I’ve just started racing marathon XC and I really like the idea of not warming up, just going thru the gears and checking the bike. Really anything I can do to stay calm, as I normally set new HR records and barely finish the race.... Thanks for all the great content guys!

Why no professionals use CrankBrothers EggBeaters pedals? They are much lighter than XTRs? And listening to all of the pro-s of the shimanos, it seems you'd like the Eggbeaters even better. I also have Shimano pedals (XT though, I heard the differences are quite small to XTRs) and I use them for all of my non-race rides since the eggbeaters require more maintenance. And I see next to none positives of the shimanos over the eggbeaters. To be true, most of the times I forget what pedals do I use.
