I've waited a long time to add an Electrolux 170 to my collection but had no idea that the clean and tidy exterior hid an absolute rusty dirty mess inside. Will I manage to get this old girl working and am I able to restore her to her formal glory. You'll find out in a video coming soon.

I really like your videos of all the vacuums you show very nice. Made me go look for a old vacuum I bought a royal 880 I think from the 1970s still learning more about old vacuums and by watching your videos I learn more. Going to keep looking for old vacuums. Keep up the good videos.

Just shows how well made these machines are. A modern, Chinese bagless vacuum in that state would have probably set on 🔥

Date code 3 17 would mean week 17 of 1973, so its 47 years old. I have a Electrolux E500 from 1973, and it looks so much more modern, being the replacement for the 170 I suppose. The 170 had probably been stored in someones loft or garage for donkeys years, maybe part of a house clearance after its owner had died, who knows. Hazmat suit was a wise choice judging on the filthy state it was in, and the "packaging" that it was wrapped up with.

Wow I'm so glad that worked for you. I really can't wait to see it after its restoration.

Wow it was filthy though.

I'm really looking forward to the next video.

Who has packed that box?? That's disgusting! That gummy looked like a bit of ham at first, I am still impressed by your bravery.

Could you by chance review a oddball budget vacuum? It is a Panasonic MC-CG373(Allergy Model) It has a special head called ‘Full Capture’ Which is strange for a vacuum in the $100 price range it is here in Singapore. I would love to see you take a look at this Panasonic vacuum that are, as a brand for floor cleaning products quite hard to come by.

Hi did you know the brush roll has two heights all thou its a floating head machine, as the brushes wear down you remove the brush and rotate the two black side blocks 180 degrees that has bar markings on opposite edges( that has to be visible ) when reassembling so it lowers the brush roll down slightly if not the brushes can hit the metal plate. hope that makes some sense

That kind of caked-in buildup is the telltale sign that a previous operator used it to vacuum a wet carpet. I've seen first-hand it multiple times 🤦🏻‍♂️

They likely shampooed their carpet but didn't wait for it to dry

A very funny video Rodger. And I want to know the backstory of how you got a bio suit. But in all seriousness though, I love your videos very much. But really Rodger. You've got to stop wasting your money on this junk. I love vacuum cleaners too, but if I had paid over a hundred pounds for that, I'd be kicking myself! That is such a waste of money. Rodger, you got to get back on the path here, and really stop spending your hard-earned money like this. Remember your New Year's Eve resolutions my friend? I was so proud to hear you wanted to change your life for the better. And now? Nothing has changed. You can't buy happiness my friend. Save for your future!!
