The original voice actor for the Lucky Charms Leprechaun was Arthur Anderson, who did the voice for 29 yrs, starting in 1964.

In 2005, he was quoted as saying:

_"People have expectations. I just have an Irish-sounding name. I have reason to celebrate. I had the luck of the Irish to get that part. I never got free cereal, but they gave me lots of green money. And it was a fun character to play. Hardly a day goes by when somebody doesn't ask me to sing the Lucky Charms jingle, and I'm proud of that."_

Also, as an American I have to say it is somewhat surreal to see someone who's genuinely Irish talking about Lucky Charms. It's like defining irony.

As an “older” viewer some of these commercials shocked me to say the least. I haven’t seen a Lucky Charms commercial since the early 80s and back then he had a thick Irish accent.

The Lucky Charms leprechaun actually used to have an Irish accent. His famous catch phrase was "Don't touch my Lucky Charms!" which was said in an accent. All the branding for this cereal (and the cereal itself) has changed dramatically since I was a kid in the 80s and early 90s.
