That overtone decrease at 15:19 was insane!! Incredible. Fountain of knowledge.

I think it's definitely true for singing! When my singing sounds worst is when I'm pushing my voice too hard. Whereas it sounds best when allowing proper balance between pushing and relaxing at the right times and in the right places, which ends up allowing true emotion to shine through. I never really thought the same would apply to growls as well but it does make sense. Great video!

Very informative video. The one bit that helped things click for me was the bit about belting. Usually I find myself pushing a lot for that belting sensation but never thought to compare it to the relaxed feeling when belting a normal singing note. Even with a half-arsed scream or through a relaxed throat singing type sound, applying the same logic purely with intent behind it rather than force gave me a new perspective on things. Awesome

I know this is one of the channel's lesser seen videos, but finding this at a time when I was refining my vocal technique (thanks to EVI's other videos!) was extremely helpful. In conjunction with making sure I wasn't pushing, especially in a live/microphone context, you helped me understand the shifting nature of pressure and when to apply more and less - specifically an adequate amount of power to get the sound and then working with tone from there on my lows. All really, really helpful stuff. Thank you for your visualisation, I'll likely be taking one-on-ones with you next year. Thanks.

Just yesterday I proved myself I don't need to squeeze my lungs, use all my resonance and loudness to sound good and the recording sounds good as well, with the proper control of those 3 the recording and urself will still sound good

wow thanks, the only video that helped me to understand what is "volume" at screams!!

While I definitely agree someone shouldn't strain or be extremely tense while screaming, I have to say volume and a certain amount of pressure helps my tone A LOT. If I scream without a certain level of pressure and volume, (especially my mids/lows) it sounds hollow and croaky or even weak.

We really have to work on ourselves mentally, to understand what's happening and why, maybe with your guidance we can!

Been binging your videos, so informative and such a great vibe from the host. Your channel is golden, if I ever do anything with my screaming, I’ll point them to you.

My first big breakthrough watching your videos was realizing I was doing my fry scream way too intense. I loosened and lightened it up and no more being out of breath, no more headaches, and it sounds better! Win/win! Sadly I think I damaged my voice because my fry doesn't sound as good as it once did

Do you know anything about the Alexander Technique? Just picked up a book for singing with awareness to start developing other good habits for singing and screaming, as I start this path.
