About this video
In this video Zane from Simple Green Tech looks at Cakewalk vs Audacity. What's the difference? This question has come up a few times now so I decided to make a quick video looking at some of the differences. There are a lot more but these are some of the key differences between Cakewalk by Bandlab vs Audacity. Both of these programs are free DAWs that can record and edit audio. But one of them may be better when it comes to music production for your home studio. If you want to check out some Cakewalk by Bandlab tutorials be sure to subscribe to my channel. Thank you so much for watching. Keep creating!

Thanks. Nice, simple, and to the point. I think I'm going to stick to Audacity. I only do voice recording for lessons, so I don't need anything 'professional'. I started using Audacity because it was free. I thought, maybe I should upgrade. But I keep going back to it because even though its interface seems really outdated, it's the easiest to use.

I'm old and pretty much retired from music. I wanted to track some of the music I still write, so a friend who is still in the business suggested Audacity as an easy platform for basic work. I research everything, so that led me to Cakewalk (I had a simple version years ago), and the Mackie Onyx interface as an option to the Focusrite Scarlett. That led me to Mackie's affiliation or whatever with WaveForm. I'll do the comparison search of those two next. Thanks for the short and concise explanation. Subscribed.

Thanks Zane for all your content. It is deeply appreciated by guys like me who are just beginning to explore the rabbit hole that is audio production.

I hope you'll do a tutorial for editing voice for song covers. EQ, Limiter and such

I use Audacity to make sound effects and atmospheres. It's pretty simple and to the point for that.

I've found Audacity doesn't crash as often as Cakewalk. Other than that, as you say, Cakewalk is the champ here.
