Maybe has a verry clear water but it has been poluted for decades by factories like Baikalsk Pulp and Paper Mill that filled the lake with polutions untill it closed 2013. There is also problem with over fishing, algal bloms because of polution and invisive spicies. They are also building more factories around the lake that i guess will not have the highest environmental standards.
