The biggest irony of Herbie not liking Jimi's Blues-based music is that, thanks in no small part to James Marshall Hendrix's enormous impact on all great Black Music genres, including and especially Funk..
Parliament-Funkadelic...
Earth, Wind & Fire...
The Isley Brothers...
Kool & the Gang...
The Meters...
Sly and the Family Stone...
The Ohio Players...
The Brothers Johnson..
Rick James...
Prince...
Herbie earned most of his 70's/80's fortune playing exactly that music..
Thank-you Jimi.. yet again..!!

Love to Miles, Herbi and Jimi. 3 of the greatest virtuosos who ever lived. Had they played together, would have been a mindblowing musical collaboration.

Herbie was closed minded and Miles helped him a lot. Herbie told the story how he was a snob when it came to the Rhodes piano, but Miles made him play it. Thank Miles for that!

the solo jimi plays around 6 or 7 minutes in that performance is insane, I highly recommend listening to it

Legend in the flesh. I've just been listening to Maiden Voyage for the first time, can't believe this record is 50 years old...

The nearest you get to hearing what a Miles Hendrix session what have been like is the band Miles had with Pete Cosey & Reggie Lucas.

I'll always respect Miles for having such open ears. Once Herbie opened his we wound up with Headhunters and other classics.
I've really grown to dislike elitist snobs like Stanley Crouch and Wynton Marsalis. From what I recall from Mile's biography he blasts them both lol.

Damn that would’ve been game over for the music world if that collaboration took place

It take a man of supreme confidence with a deep belief of living one’s life in the rays of self-revelatory honesty to admit in public the comments he made regarding his feelings about Jimi in 1970.

Alan Douglas, the producer who worked on the Hendrix albums that came out just after Hendrix died, Cry Of Love, Midnight Lightning, etc, has a whole other story about why Hendrix and Miles never played together. You can Google it for the details. Not sure if Douglas’ story is true, but he put it in his book.
