The Shōya House tour continues! Explore the kitchen and family rooms of this 320-year-old Japanese home with our curator Robert.

The Japanese Heritage Shōya House is open now from noon to 4 p.m. Visitors will experience sustainable living across three centuries in the historic residence and compound, which was moved to California from Marugame, Japan.

Ohh I wondered what that round wood thing with the two slats were. My great grandfather built my house so I find stuff that perplexes me all the time.

Absolutely beautiful, even though the door frames are really low it would have drove me crazy bending I would’ve probably bang my head a couple of times 😂 but again wow so beautiful 😊
