2 Days to Transform a Japanese Akiya: Can we do it?

I met up with a subscriber to the channel who just bought an Akiya here in Japan. We got the keys and had 2 days to get the house ready to live in. In this video we will have a full Akiya house tour, a Q and A session where I ask how much she paid and we go shopping to buy things for the new Akiya. It was a pretty full on 2 days and the heat was a killer!

If you are new to the channel, my name is Chani and I am a middle aged Australia who was stuck in a rut and moved to Japan to live. I bought an Akiya or empty house and started renovating. I'd love it if you joined the community.

☕️ Thanks for all your support of the channel, I really appreciate it so much. If you would like to help me continue to make videos and support my ability to keep the channel going, here is the link:

I look forward to seeing you in the next video 😀

The small half shoji are called Yukimi (Yuki = Snow and mi = see). So....the sliding shoji can be raised so you can see snow fall while you are sitting on the tatami mats, having some food and a bottle of hot sake! Enjoy!

I just became a subscriber, and I'm watching your vlogs as they come up randomly. Perhaps, I should watch them in a more orderly manner, but it's fun to see you in various situations. You were so kind to Monica; she was very fortunate to befriend you. Thanks to both of you for sharing your day. It was so interesting to hear her story.

I love watching your videos and when you're setting up house and doing gardening. Your camping travels are exciting too. I'm a 66-yr old widow who lives alone and many times I tell myself, "Be calm like Chani, take your time." It really helps me.

I just wanna say thank you for helping out Monica! When I first arrived in Japan I didn’t know anyone or really anything about the city I moved into. (Especially just having turned 20 I felt even more lost in a big city) It was lonely and a bit difficult to even find local shops and know how to move around in the area. Having someone to help you during that time is such a huge plus!! I know it mustn’t have been easy to drive around all day but thanks for being a good friend! I’m sure Monica appreciated it as well!

Thank you to Monika for sharing her story. I have a feeling soon there will be a huge increase of gaijin in Wakayama, thanks to Chani.

Love these ‘real life’ videos that you are doing Chani - much more interesting than the standard influencer travel videos. Thanks for all your work!

You are so kind Chani. This support could become a "side hustle" for you in your area. No point in wasting your skills!❤❤❤

A business helping people move in sounds like a great idea and since you’re obviously someone who enjoys people you’d probably find it fulfilling. I’ve seen so many people vlog their move in/moving stories and things like trash day, turning on utilities, neighborhood integration etc. (If I win the lottery and want to make a move I wouldn’t hesitate to hire you.)

Always something new and interesting to see in your videos Chani. It's cool seeing the streetscapes from the car also.
