1. 죄송합니다
This is the most common formal way to say I’m sorry. It sounds polite and respectful. You can use it in various real-life situations.
And when you say it, you need to slightly bow your head. Keep in your mind that making direct eye contact while saying this is considered rude.

2. 사과 드립니다
사과 means an apology. So, it corresponds to I apologize.
It’s more formal than 죄송합니다.
It’s used more in written Korean like letters, or emails, especially when you feel sorry about doing wrong to other people.
And if you’re really sorry, 진심으로(sincerely) or 깊이(deeply) can be attached.
You’ve probably seen this in many Korean celebrities’ handwritten letters of apology.

3. 미안해요
미안해요 means I’m sorry
But it’s less formal than the previous expressions, so it is frequently used among coworkers or casual friends. You can use it for someone younger or who is of lower social status when you don’t want to be too serious and honorific.

4. 미안해
미안해 is an informal phrase. It can be only used for your real close friends.

What about 실례합니다? Is it not that common to be used? Or it is used in other context?
