Juhl Media presents Wen Qian, violinist of the Met Opera Orchestra, in conversation with filmmaker Ching Juhl. Live violin music performs by Wen Qian. The talk includes personal stories of Wen Qian, opera music past & today, as well as what happens with the musicians at Met Orchestra during COVID-19. Wednesday, June 24th 4 PM (ET).
Wen Qian was hailed by China Daily as “one of China’s most promising young violinists” and in a Strad magazine review titled “Rare Thrill” featuring Qian after her Carnegie Hall recital, music critic Dennis Rooney commented "it was performed with enough insight and panache to thrill a listener while at the same time raising the question of why such results are so rarely achieved.”
Wen Qian has been a first violinist with the Metropolitan Orchestra since 1997, where currently she serves as the Assistant Concertmaster. She has also enjoyed an active career as a soloist, chamber musician and educator throughout China, America and Europe.
Wen Qian is a violin professor at the Mannes College of Music. She has taught at the New World Symphony in Miami, New York Youth Symphony, New York University, the Central Conservatory of Beijing, Shanghai Conservatory and Music Schools in Taiwan.
Ching Juhl, filmmaker, musician, educator has been hosting “A Conversation with Special Someone”, weekly live chats on YouTube during the lockdown. She has featured artists, educators, musicians, politicians, specialists and Yang Gang.
