We asked our mechanics... Why do people buy Toyotas? The answer is so obvious our last mechanic, Matt, thought I was joking by asking this question. People buy Toyota because of its bulletproof reputation for reliability!

In fact, According to research done by R.L. Polk & Company, over 80% of Toyota's sold 20 years ago are still on the road today. Why do you think people buy Toyotas?

I agree with these mechanics, except they aren't very cheap but they are worth every penny

You're asking people who work at a toyota dealership lol. They are reliable, not cheap though

I bought my honda because it is reliable and cheap. I owned a toyota before my honda. I f I buy another car, it will be a honda or toyota. But....my honda is 14 years old, 225K miles and runs like new. I take care of it myself (mechanic by trade) and I plan on getting 400K before my next new car.

Reliability and great resale values. What is considered high mileage on other vehicles the Toyota is just getting broken in.

As a Honda driver, I would beg to differ, however, if I had bought a Toyota first, I might have changed sides. I have always said that there is a reason why multiple Honda and Toyota drivers only buy 2-3 cars int a couple of decades. They are just built better. Hands down the two best carmakers

I am 77 and bought a new Toyota Matrix in 2005. It is still on the road, and it will likely outlive me. As a HUGE believer in Toyota quality, this year, I bought a Lexus IS 350 - a Toyota on steroids. I will NEVER sell the Matrix, though.

I have a handful of family members that own really old Toyotas that are still going strong today in 2025. 1998 4runners(375k miles & 325k miles, 1992 tercel(480k miles), 1982 hilux(250k miles)1993 corolla(300k miles), and a 1999 tacoma pickup single cab(290k miles) All stilling running. Absolutely bulletproof.

Reliable and easy to work on when they do break. So mechanics really love them.

Any car brand can be reliable if people take care of them. Most of the issues stem from negligent maintenance.

$40k for a new Camry??? My 2016, which I still own with 200k miles, cost $21k brand new. The hyperinflationary Obiden economy!

When my ex brother in law bought one 40 years ago and the way that pickup held up under him. I knew it was the one to get. Never regretted it😊😊😊😊😊

Given the prices I would say "How do they buy Toyotas" is a better question.

Toyota should use this clip in prime time TV commercials.

Exhaust clips are terrible on Toyota's. 75% of all Toyota's I see on the road have their exhaust system hanging by a thread and about touching the ground. Other than that they are reliable.
