Solomon admonished us, “Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth” (Proverbs 27:1). We neither planned for nor wanted the virus and subsequent lockdown that was imposed on our globe. But we experienced it, and we talked about it. And we neither planned for nor wanted the murder of George Floyd in Minnesota last week and the deep racial division that has surfaced since, including widespread pandemonium. But we are experiencing it in our nation currently, and we must talk about it. Let’s consider a scriptural account of racism and four steps to deal with it.

This teaching is from our series of Topical Teachings with Skip Heitzig from Calvary Church.

Thank you Pastor Skip for the dialogue with Pastor Tony Clark. I have been listening to your teaching and other series, and I see your heart for God and His people, so I was curious about the your views on the issue. You stated at the beginning of this video, that you were being judged right now. You are right. I confess I wanted to see what your heart would reveal during this conversation. I saw what I was hoping I would see: a man who loves God and His people, regardless of race. Because your heart is correct, you could ask the questions you asked without flinching. I enjoy your boldness and intent to discuss the "pink elephant" in the room without fear. I'm glad you asked about the church ... our role in this. Because the world is so dark, this is a great time for the church to show up and shine, and God told us, "if my people who are called by my name ... I will heal their land." That is a constant prayer! God knows that only His church, redeemed people, can produce change. The question is: will we? I don't see racism as a separate sin issue; we are still talking about an issue of the heart of man, so it can be addressed like any other sin ... with the gospel. That's good news!

Mark 12:30-31'And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.' This is the first commandment.
"And the second, like it, is this; 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these.

Im GLAD TO HEAR SKIP TALK ABOUT THIS AND GIVE A BLACK VOICE THE MIC ON THIS ISSUE. AS A FOLLOWER OF HIS MINISTRY FOR YEARS NOW, IT WAS SUPER IMPORTANT FOR ME TO SEE THIS FROM HIM! I pray this brings understanding to all and a change of heart for those that are indifferent or apathetic.

Pastor Skip you make proud, I have only heard you and Costa Mesa pastor take a stand and and try to address the issue of racism in the Church. All the rest are silent basically trying to ignore the issue and just go about their verse by verse studies. What a shame ! Lives only matter when they are valued, appreciated and dealt with fairly. Calvary chapel churches in general are shrugging racism. Bravo for pastor Skip and modeling what they ought to address.

Thank you Pastor Skip for a compassionate and Biblical discourse on a touchy topic. May the Good Lord bless you and keep you. It takes courage to obey the Lord. Thank you again.

Dr.Advise to the Church: No Vaping and nearby any people who vape. I had an experience in a Hostel in Dubai, UAE and London, UK, last summer year 2019. The vape emits a smoke that goes to your lungs dry and has side effects that contracts one's lungs that could last one hour! this is only three meters around vaping people.

What a great perspective from Pastor Tony. We all see people of other colors and cultures differently. I was brought up to fear whites and not to make friends with blacks. I acknowledge that this is wrong. When we acknowledge our sin, God forgives. “When they cast you down, and you say, ‘Exaltation will come! ’ Then He will save the humble person. He will even deliver one who is not innocent; Yes, he will be delivered by the purity of your hands.””
Job‬ ‭22:29-30‬

No pastor you win with Christ and thats the stance you took. The only thing that matters is truth and only Christs WORD Is the truth. My 3year old son is very active and attends a less divrse daycare. He got in trouble with another kid for jumping on the table. Th director felt it was right to have him clean the class toilet but theother kid recieved a pat on the back. When he was finushed cleaing the toiket he asked for a book to read, he was told to stad in the corner while the other kid was enjoying his nap time. I reported the matter and all the proof i had. The teachet was fored but the director ofcourse stayed on staff. I took him out and we started a schoolst our church for this matter. When this was pubucized in the comuniyty i got alot of support and help from my white brothers and sisters.

Emmmm... I have to say this is a very disappointed, dishearten conversation. Can't put my finger on it, but it just has to "apologetic" tone to it.

The Pastor lost me with his anecdotal story about appearance that he took as racism. Interestingly enough I’ve heard plenty of these stories, and been party to some, where the skin color has changed between both sides but the trepidation caused by the appearance of the “thugs” was not attributed to racism. Also, all the evidence shows that based on encounters and offenses they they are less likely to be killed by the police. I clicked on this because it covered racism but was disappointed after seeing it devolve into a feeling video based on perception and not reality. Perception is a difficult thing to change but it doesn’t make it true. The riots were not about protesting the system because no one defended what that cop had done or against racism. Unless fighting racism by being racist towards others has magically become the solution. The riots were about special rights and privileges, to not be held to the same standard and accountability as others but more importantly for more stuff. Black on white violence is magnitudes higher than white on black but black on black is the highest. Racism is the least of the problems of the black community especially when they attribute nearly everything to racism instead of behavior. If whites are so incredibly racist then why did they fight a war, give them citizenship, pass civil rights acts, pass hiring and education laws, provide more money to their community than all other combined. It’s a values issue because the same problems regardless of location worldwide are on full display from this community. America absolutely has to do better as a society but that starts at the home by raising our children to be Godly men and woman who do it break the law, fight with law enforcement, do not get drunk or high, but diligent, hard working and disciplined.

I’m sorry but Tony Clark... how is defending the Black Lives Matter movement and trying to explain how it is good when all it’s doing is being divisive... it’s not about race. What we should be preaching is The Gospel period. When we try and accommodate for anybody based on their skin color and that goes for any race, Asian, Caucasian, Hispanic, etc... we are missing the point. God does not look at the outside appearance but the heart. And we are all sinners and deserve hell. The media can make us miss the opportunity to preach the Gospel and the media then takes your mind off of preaching Christ Crucified. If we preach the truth of the Bible to ALL people some will listen and be saved by God with His mercy. And to Skip... to accommodate for ALL races we should preach the Gospel.
