I enjoyed Bone Shard Daughter but I struggled with Nophek Gloss. It was well constructed but very grim and a lot of information. My favorite fantasy of 2020 is definitely Black Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse!

I had requested a copy of Nophek Gloss but never got it.... Ah well. I have plenty to keep me occupied. Great wrapup as usual!

I’m reading Rhythm of War now and really love the Stormlight Archive books but I was kind of in the same place you were when I read WoK. Honestly I think the second book was head and shoulders above the first one and now look back on the first one more fondly than I did when I first finished it. Not everything is for everyone (and even though I love the books I can see their faults) but if you already have the second one and are at all curious I would say keep going because it keeps getting better. Love the channel!

The only books from 2020 I read were Peace Talks and Battleground by Jim Butcher. They were good.

Read these new releases => Road to Seraphin (by I.B.Pilan), The Tower of Nero (By Rick Riordan) and The Blade Between (By Sam J. Miller)
I recommend them. All three surprised me a lot.

Trying Bear's Machine now. The world building is good, but the internal monologues of the main character go on a little long. Maybe she's an unreliable narrator.

I don't see a lot of youtubers reading Peter F. Hamilton's Salvation series that just finished with The Saints of Salvation.

I think a lot of your plot complaints are not going to exist in Words of Radiance. Way of Kings is like middle of the road Sanderson for me, I put Mistborn above it but Words of radiance is always switching between the number 1 and 2 spot. If you don’t like Words of Radiance then yea probably dnf the series cause Oathbringer is long even for those of us who like it. But Words of Radiance and Way of Kings are such different books. You get amazing character interactions in WoR, LOTS of answered questions and revelations. But like its also 1000+ page book so I get it if you stop here but the second book is one of my favorites of all time so I am VERY biased 😂

I struggled to get through The Way of Kings, and towards the end was getting annoyed that the book just kept going and going.
