This kind of thing is common in Quebec, they get lots of snow there and something you have to clear it off the roof for safety purposes. Not just for the weight on the structure but also if it falls unexpectedly on someone or something it can do a lot of damage. Still a fun place to live though!

Some people don't know you should only remove the snow EVENLY from both sides .Never take off one side at a time or the roof can collapse.
