If you have a DIESEL engine don't pull over and don't stop your engine !
You will manage to arive where you going because diesel engine still works if you don't have batery.

Dude. the minute you said alternator I went to it and checked the connector and realized It was partially unhooked, I must’ve hit it enough to stay connected while changing plugs, coil and wires. During my test drive I guess it wasn’t making solid contact. All good now! Thanks!

Thanks for making this it was definitely very informative. My battery light comes on, but it’s very dim when it comes on I’m not sure exactly what that means other than a faulty component in my charging system, it’s probably something to do with the alternator, but I just replaced my alternator not even a year ago, I would hate to take it out of the car again.

This is stopgap stuff he says... You may be on a highway 100 miles from home or near home and a good garage... it depends! A battery warning light can be from several things, so get it checked by a mechanic. An old car and an old alternator worn out is one cause. A battery to be replaced is another, but without testing you cannot be sure.. A serpentine belt may be very old and slipping and need replacing. Use common sense...

Battery light came on but when I tested the battery there was nothing wrong with the charging system. What else could this mean?

I had this light come on last night on my 2003 chevy cavalier, I did feel like the lights were a bit dimmer and I drove it about 1hours to my house luckily it made it. after I got to my house the ABS light also came on and would go away. The moment I turned off the car it wouldn't start, sounded like a dead battery so I feel like my alternator is just starting to crap out on me.

Dual battery is also a good idea use a boat battery switch that select batt1 batt2 both and off simple cheap and more reliable than a DCDC system or relay

5 minutes of driving on a fresh battery....I drove for hours when my alternator blew....it all just depends on when you are driving and how many times you start your vehicle....If you drive during the day and you stop down hill so you can do a rolling start...you can drive pretty far
