Any broomstick can be used as a camera monopod, as long as it has a base on top, where you can place the phone. I've cut a piece of plastic the size of the phone, and secure the phone with rubber bands. I used to have a wooden base, but then I found this plastic piece that is more convenient.
The base must have some kind of protrusion in the bottom, so we can secure it on the broomstick with durable tape or alternatly we can screw it on for permanent installation.
In case we want to record looking down, we need to secure a second stick on the monopod, at a 90 degree angle to hold the phone looking directly down. The second stick can be secured on the monopod using simple 90 degree elbows, and for a phone holder I've used the piece of an old TV antenna I had lying around.
This monopod can be secured on the ground if the soil is soft, like sand or mud. In case we have concrete, we can take a 5 litter can and fill it with sand (for weight) and stick the monopod in the sand. This simple trick will hold it upright and will work for the "vertical" recording too, as long as the "base" is sitting on the ground. If for instance you want to record your hands doing something on the table, don't place the base on the table but on the ground.
Cut the wood or plastic base according to the size of your phone and make sure it is thin. You can use more than two rubber bands in case one brakes and always put back the cap on the can so as not to lose the sand.
Thanks for watching, and if you like what you see, consider subscribing.
