The System Restore tool in Windows is one of the more helpful utilities available to you and is usually a great first step when you're trying to fix a major problem in Windows.

In a nutshell, what the Windows System Restore tool lets you do is revert to a previous software, registry, and driver configuration called a restore point. It's like "undoing" the last major change to Windows, taking your computer back to the way it was when the restore point was created.

Since a majority of Windows problems involve issues with at least one of those aspects of your operating system, System Restore is a great tool to use early in the troubleshooting process. It also helps that it's really simple to do.

Follow these easy steps to return Windows to a previous, hopefully working, state using System Restore:

Time Required: Using the System Restore tool to undo/reverse changes in Windows usually takes anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes, at least in most cases.

System protection is a feature that allows you to undo unwanted system changes by being able to do a System Restore. System Restore enables users, in the event of a problem, to restore their computers to a previous state (restore point) without losing personal data files.

System Restore is enabled by default in Windows. If disabled, System Restore is turned off, and the System Restore Wizard cannot be accessed. The option to configure System Restore or create a restore point through System Protection is also disabled.

This tutorial will show you how to enable or disable System Restore for all users in Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 10.

You must be signed in as an administrator to enable or disable System Restore.

If you disable System Restore, any created restore points will not be automatically deleted in the process.

By default, System Restore is enabled on all Windows operating systems, including Windows 10. But some users who upgraded their computers to Windows 10 are reporting that their System Restore feature was turned off. Another question about System Restore: I have noticed in 10 that when I have set mmmm, more than 3-4 or were auto set, Ind I need to do a reset I can only find the last 3 I believe. Is there a setting for as many as one wants or is this a system default? Thanks again, always enjoy your content

Great video. But I'm having a different situation on my laptop 💻. I've tried doing a new Installation in windows 10 for the 10th time now, what makes it even more bizarre is most of the stuff. I do is I put stuff on USB other then that I've run out of results, and C drive should never fill up by it's self unless I'm being hacked, so I don't quite understand what else could be the problem. But every time I do the new installation of windows 10, for drive c will still fill up with unnecessary stuff, which I have got rid of countless of times🤷🏿‍♀️ especially those annoying temporary files even tried the command prompt. Now if this is not resolving the problem nothing else will I guess.
