You should use a long flat stick, drag it across the wall to flatten the cement before you use the sponge to touch up the surfaces.

Do you wet the walls before applying the first and second coat of cement? Also, to verify you use 1 part portland cement and 3 parts mason sand. Your original post was made in 2012 and you are still helping people in 2018. Thank you!

I know you've already answered this question in bits and pieces several times in the comments below, but could you please provide a clear ratio of portland : sand : lime and exactly how much water you normally add? Thanks a bunch!

Great video. Do any of these steps apply to refractory cement? The stuff i have is apparently kasto-lite, just add water. I would have liked a nicer look than i got, i just lined the inside of my forge, but they always look so rough.

would I have to worry about old if I had this done I'm looking at buying a house with a basement with block wall and windows I know nothing about basements moister and how to keep mold out you did an awesome job

hmm. The guy that did my walls used plywood and would go half way and pour the concrete in it to fill up from the wall to the plywood that cover the entire wall then he'll wait for it to dry then pull the plywood off and do the other half. It looked perfectly straight. How come i'm not seeing anyone do that now? I was going to do a wall by myself but wanted to get directions and haven't seen anyone doing that. Same with my stairs. The last guy used some wood and built fake stairs and just purred cement into it and when it dried he pulled the wood off.

Hi I am noticing some of my walls in the basement are not starting to show dirt. How do I repair some of the spots? Do I scrap it? If so, what do I need to do! It just needs patch work in my basement
