The American citizens will pay the tariffs, not china.

Protectionism does not make your domestic companies more innovative, but rather more stagnant. Never mind Chinese cars, even theGerman, Japanese, and Korean cars are better than anything Ford, Ford, and Chrysler can produce.

Our so-called leaders thought "free trade" was great when they were shipping our jobs overseas. Now when it comes to protecting Legacy Auto who have been too slow to move to EVs, Uncle Sam Swings into Action, raising prices for consumers.

But all the lithium/cobalt and other rare metals needed for ev batteried are 80% controlled by China. Therefore I expect chuna to triple the price of their rare earth metal export to the USA. This is a battle the USA and the west cannot win.

It's cool when Biden does it. It's a problem when Trump did it. Nice to see Biden sees the wisdom in Trump Tariff policy.

3. sentences to fix everything..

1. Drastically and dramatically increase supply.
2. Stop purposely creating scarcity of goods.

3. Reduce 10% of government salaries. Yes. Fired.

In 1 year that alone will do more than whatever all these guys says.

5:50 "hey, with 100% tariff on China, Ford doesn't even need to be all that ready [for competition]. They focuses on other things that make money..."
This sentence summarizes all that is wrong with the tariffs... This will be the downfall of the US automobile industry... if not the country itself...

The 100% tariff on Chinese EV is just about right to generate resentment from the Chinese people to make them wonder is it still patriotic to buy Tesla in China. If that movement starts like it did to the Swedish company HM then Tesla will have no future inside China.

100% tariff and it is still cheaper...I'll buy Chinese EVs

Despite massive outsourcing by US corporations to PRC, PRC government has remained an economic FOE and military FOE! No amount of economic cooperation nor diplomacy will make PRC government an ally of USA or any nation! PRC's diplomacy is coercive and deceptive. PRC's cut-throat trade practices and economic aid/loans to other countries filled with debt traps. Japan's geopolitical conduct, on the other hand, abandoned its imperialistic stance, no territories, practices friendly economic competition, no debt traps, outsourced its massive automobile industry to other countries (USA, Canada, and other countries) to provide employment, and a true ally! Japanese government genuinely protected its people by postponing the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics (sabotaged by the covid-19 epidemic) because the Japanese officials listened to its medical experts/people, put down their pride and honor, risked billions of US dollars worth of investments, profits and revenues in order to protect the people of Japan. Did Xi postpone the Beijing Winter Olympics??? NO!
