I am out of breath already ! Yes Alicante is fantastic I used to enjoy watching the young people playing volley ball on the beach and the old men sitting on their stools around the town, great place for all ages

Just came back from Spain. I flew into Barcelona did a few days there and then took the train to Alicante. Took 5 hours but totally comfortable. Alicante was great. It really is a bit off the radar, which is nice. The views from Castello de Santa Barbara are really spectacular. Definitely worth going up into! I walked up the back way up the hill. Definitely a bit of a challenge but not too bad. A very walkable city overall. Safe feeling as well. It amazed me how many people were walking alone at 11 or 12 at night. Particularly women. I stayed at the Eurostars Lucentum acorss from the Mercado Centrale. It was a great location except no matter what side of the building you are on, you will get noise at night.

Love a wee trip to Alicante its a great city to visit love the old town .

It’s a beautiful city - there are free walking tours ( just give a tip) you can book which is great for orientation of the old town, food markets etc.Thanks for the tip on where to get to the lift/path to the castle - we’ve always driven up, although it’s still quite a walk. What a view!

The civil war graffiti in the castle always fascinates me. It's still in good condition considering people have been walking over it for years.

Also I highly recommend the terracotta warrior exhibition at the archaeological museum, if it's still on.

Another great video, still to get a handle on Alicante but back on 1st Feb for six weeks and the Castle is in our list. Our last visit was to the Terracotta Army in November which was OK
