Tomato Onion Chutney is one of the popular chutney prepared in several states of South India. Each state has a small variation to the recipe but in the end, it is a recipe full of flavour and is pretty easy & quick to make.

Ingredients:
Oil – 5tbsp
Heeng (asafoetida) – ½ tsp
Urad dal – 1 tbsp
Dry red chilli – 2nos
Mustard Seeds – 2 tsp
Cumin – 2 tsp
Garlic cloves – 6nos
Ginger – a small piece
Curry leaves – a handful
Onion chunks – 1 cup
Green chilli – 1 no
Tomato chunks – 2 cups
Salt – to taste
Tamarind pulp (thick) – 1 tbsp

Tried it now.. its good.. I prepared dosa adding some grated carrot n lil onion by sprinkling some coconut oil.. dis chutney was a good combination. Thanks chef

I make this . Just the same way. Same ingredients too. The only difference is that, I omit the mustard seeds. But I add a handful of coriander leaves. That's all.
It is an amazing chutney for idli, dosa, upma, curd rice, Plain paratha. You can keep it in a glass bottle in the fridge, for almost 4 to 5 days

Thank you Kunal, I first tasted this chutney at Uddupi in South Delhi with Dosa and I was not aware this is made of tomato and onion I thought it's thier speciality. I just made it and it's exactly tasting the same. I am so happy bcz I am expecting and everyday I feel like eating somthing sour & spicy ; You rock🥂
