It's great that you still take the time for beginners.

Justin, came across your presentations (lessons) while searching for study material for my grandson who expressed an interest in learning to play... I was trained to play "classical" guitar years and years ago, had two awesome instructors, my first one taught at the Peabody Institute in Baltimore, my second at GW University in Washington DC... What both of these teachers taught me in learning to play rhythm was to put the guitar aside and just read the notation and to tap a pencil on my music stand while verbally counting out the beat... ie: 1 ah and de, 2 ah and de, etc... etc... To strike the music stand with the pencil whenever a note appeared. Oh and also to set my metronome to the correct cadence. NOTE: No guitar was hurt or damaged in the process... can't say the same for the pencil or music stand...but I quickly learned how to read timing and rhythm.

By the way love the lessons you have posted, my grandson loves them too. I bought several of your books for him to use.. Peace Out )=

Enjoying your online beginner course. This one was a puzzler for me until I found the TAB diagram for it. Thanks. Perhaps adding tab sheets for each riff would help us.

This 1 was always a crowd fave back in the 90s when we played it! \m/

This is pretty hard and the first video I found that wasn't noob friendly (during the second half of the riff explanation)

I found it a bit hard to follow. Is this correct: _ _ _ _ _ 06 06 16 / 26 _ 05 26 05 26 26 16 / 06 25 06 06 _ 25 06 16 / 26....and repeat (_-> half step, 06-> open 6, 16-> first fret 6th string 26-> 2nd fret 6th string and so on)

There's a tab on his website. Really hard to follow along for me without it.

Love the free lessons and it has been so helpful but damn you keep doing this you suddenly speed up and it is really hard to follow- a tab or something would be amazing at the same time to visually understand without getting confused

Justin your videos are usually great I have no complaints at all with how you do 99% of things. I really appreciate what you do. Im sorry to provide feedback that sounds negative but im really struggling to follow along with your play alongs and rifts. When you're counting during teaching the riff it doesnt help me. It furstrates me. It's too many things at once, It throws me off from paying attention to what you're playing. I understand your goal is to teach the other parts of your course along while we learn the rift but it's too much at once.

You're Counting, Teaching pattern, Then replaying segments without saying you're replaying them which confuses it all. This is 4 things all at once when I'm just trying to pick up the bare basics of it
ON top of that with your counting the strums you're counting into replaying the bit so you cant even keep up with that. Its all too much brother.

My suggestion is
Teach the Pattern
Say you're going to replay that bit if you're going to
Then say you'll play it all the way to that point
Teach the timing after.

Ive had rewind your rift videos so many times just to understand the pattern. I recognize that the timing and counting is important but dont jumble it together. Like I still dont have it understood im so frustrating from rewinding the video for the 40th time that I had to come here to write my feelings. I hope you understand that i very much value and appreciate what you do as a whole.

learning the timing and fingering at once is overwhelming i feel like it would be easier if i learned one after the other

Im really trying to learn this song and you lost me for the riff pattern about halfway through talking about the rhythm. I grew up with the song so I definitely know the rhythm but I cant quite get my fingers right. Can someone please help me with the note progression? I cant quite follow it in the video.

How are you doing, Justin?
Love watching your YouTube videos🙏
I have a question about the D chord - I can mostly manage to get my 3rd finger right close to the fret but sometimes it falls short a little bit but I can still play the chord perfectly roughly with the same presure applied. Do you think It's okay or should I keep practicing until I can get my 3rd finger as close to the fret as possible? Also, I learned the A chord 🙏
Your lessons are amazing and can't thank you enough for the valuable information that you provide for free.
