This is, in my opinion, his best song. Someone else said this but I definitely agree, if this song had been released 60 years ago it would be a classic.

Colter could sing the phone book and I'd still buy the album and see the show

Colter Wall is what modern country music should be.

My dad's family is buried on a butte in South Saskatchewan. His Mom & Dad and 17 of their 18 children. My dad will be their last when we bring his ashes there this summer. Thank you Colter Wall.

Those two folks who disliked this video are very likely to be relatives of the McCannon family.

This kid is one of the most epic story tellers in any genre of music. If you can't appreciate this, then I'm afraid your inner Jukebox has done been broken.

“Henry took to stealing, robbing on the CP rail. Got the Devil on his shoulder, and the lawman on his tail.”

Those are some of the most clever and descriptive lines I’ve ever heard. Boy he can write...

This young man is bringing country back all by himself. Real country. Real stories. A true artist.

Back in the day, if I didn't go to school, my dad told me then, your coming to work then, I grew up in Cypress Hills, cutting post, learned how to drive a 66 3 speed chev manual transmission and everyday after work we would stop at the lil lake in the middle of Cypress Hills and we would have fun, god I miss those days, I hardly ever went to school, I never took any books home, I learned everything from my dad, he was my step dad but he's the only dad I knew, I started working 5 years old, everytime we had tests and quizzes at school I always passed, my dad taught me as I worked, I'm so glad I learned from him and all my step brothers and step sister's. The memories are always fresh in my mind, I'm so blessed to have had all the human beings in my life and for air that we breathed and all shared, I'll see you all again dad and brothers and sisters, I know your always around me, I catch a glimpse out of the corner of my eye, I know your all there guiding me to this day, I know your all out there on some other world waiting to come get us when it's our time to leave here, I'm 54 now and it feels like I'm here for another 100 years but that's ok, I know your all out there, I'll see you all again, I can't wait but we all have to run our time here first, I can't wait to start living again, all of us together again. I wish that everyone knew what we all know, the end here is all that matters now, so to all you other human beings here I'll tell you, you have everything to live for here for now but life here has to run its course then the others that are not here are waiting to come get us, so have that to look forward to when you are not feeling yourself or your down, life goes on elsewhere just let your life run its course here, you will understand when you're drawing your last breath, believe in that, believe in god. 5:51

I’ve often thought how awesome this would be to make a short film from this story.

I think all of these sessions are better than the album versions...way better.

Amazing the story he can weave in under 6 minutes. This might be my favorite Colter song. I feel like I’m in a Louie L’Amour novel every time I hear it.

This version, of this song, is one of the greatest acoustic songs ever. Period.

I'll tell you, driving through the desert with no one around and during this winter storm that hit near here, it was eerie listening to this music. It doesn't always snow in the desert but when it does, it snows a lot. I remember sitting outside too, out in the middle of nowhere really and listening to his music. You get transported to another time, a more simple time. I started thinking of the railroads, the trains that no longer ran, all the folk that came before me on the ground I stood and traveled on. Good music paints the best pictures ever. But it also complements your life and travels, enjoying the beautiful scenery. Colter's music is just that.
