Disney Cruise Line & Walt Disney World | Bob's Big Bankruptcy Bargain Bin Boat | Wait Til You See What Bob Chapek Bought | Valliant Renegade Featuring @WDW_Pro | FORBES Magazine - How Disney Sailed Off With $1.6 Billion From Its Cruise Line

Disney Cruise Lines have been in operation since the first boat was acquired nearly 25 years ago (Disney MAGIC), but it wasn't until the Walt Disney Company expanded the fleet to FOUR vessels that the enterprise became profitable.

BUT... Did you know that the boats and the Disney Cruise Lines operation itself are NOT even owned by Disney or any of its multitude of United States business entity subsidiaries? The Magical Cruise Company manages operations from Celebration, Florida but the business itself was formed and registered in ... London , England. Many cruise vessels that run routes in the same area as Disney Cruise ships, tend to have their vessels registered in Nassau, Bahamas with business entities formed elsewhere. It all depends on the tax incentives being offered.

BUT... The UK-based Magical Cruise Company is not owned by Disney either... there's another corporate parent ownership above MCC...in Luxembourg. (Yes, you're reading that right). In fact Disney moved nearly two dozen of its foreign entities to Luxembourg almost 10 years ago under a single parent entity named.... WEDCO. And Why? More tax incentives. Ultimately, The Walt Disney Company owns WEDCO and many of the Disney Cruise Line profits are held ex-US for tax benefits and which intern allow the operating subsidiary (MCC) to continue operations and ... well... buy more boats.

But this latest HUGE SCORE for MMC/WEDCO/Disney is just beyond insane. Wait till you see what Bob Chapek bought.

I believe it is called the Johnson act. It is a law that makes any US owned ship that going from a US port to another US port must have a 100% US crew. That is why no crews ship will ever be US OWNED.

Is Wedco mentioned on the FTX disclosures?

Considering the cases of Norovirus that I hear about on cruises, I'll stay on land.

Disney ran a limited cruise here in Australia and charged someone like 5k USD per person for two nights. With one of the other cruise companies you'd get, for two people, two weeks to a month over to New Zealand return to Sydney and in a nice room for 5k (with drink packages included). It's a far better deal to go elsewhere for cruising when you get more included and better value on the ticket price.

If my source is still correct, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Shanghai were all franchise deals, the mouse did not have to put up a nickel. The cruise line maybe the same agreement.

Imagine if they JUST Set Dressed a Cruise Liner They Already Possess for the Starcruiser! Pay a Cruise Price and have a Star Wars Cruise on an Actual Ctuise ship with THINGS TO DO.
What a Novel Idea.

Disney would have been much better off just partnering with Netflix than creating their own streaming service.

Actually, you will be laughing at Mickey Mouse if this MASSIVE GAMBLE doesn't pay off... We are dealing with boats here where the reality is that a FREE boat very often turns out to be more expensive than paying retail for it. Granted, this doesn't apply so much for a brand new boat under construction but with the pandemic and the economy potentially tanking, this "great deal on a boat" might turn out to be a "sucker being born every day".

There once was an iceberg with a name...and that name was Kathleen Kennedy.

When the Disney Magic and Wonder were being built there where some major problems which caused the workers to refer to the boats as the Tragic and Blunder. Maybe the Dream should be called the Scream.

It's also Disney Cruise Line's entry into the Asian market. You can expect to find this new vessel cruising the South China Sea and South Pacific. Its design is nothing like the other "classic" Disney ships. It's designed and built for an Asian market. It'll be (in)authentically Disney, distinctly Chinese.

You know I was thinking back and WDW Pro reminds me of the character Orson, from Mork and Mindy when he would ask Mork what he had learned from the latest episode. He just has that type of narrative personality that you get accustomed to hearing from overhead.

How much do you think chapek is laughing right now. He doesn't have to deal with those snake people anymore.
