Proper maintenance will prolong the life of your valuable equipment. It will also decrease the chance of failure while you are fighting your personal best fish or trying to reel in the tournament winner.

For all Magsealed Daiwa reels DONT OIL THE MAIN SHAFT this will actually make it function worse. The Magseal needs a special Ferrofluid to be applied or you can damage the reel. On the higher end Certate and Exists which looks like you have they also have Magsealed ball bearings which in applying regular oil will destroy them.

Would you say lubing the shaft is the most important part if we are trying to make sure our hands smell like fish at the end of the day?

Good, practical advice except I don't think oil placed on the line roller will ever make it out to either side of it. I think you need to loosen the screw and put oil directly on either side. Also, on my reels, the first thing to rust is the coil spring on the back side of the spool. I always put a drop of oil on that.

Awesome Video great stuff. I use oil on main gear as well very smooth. The old Hardy altec has two oil ports for the gears which I found interesting with everybody using grease these days. Do you think this is a good idea.

You can put new oil with out taking old oils out. 🤔 just wondering I've been calling it out every time. I cud of saved time.

Would the non magnetic oil affect the magseal on the Daiwa Certate?

I know a friend of mine have the Daiwa Saltist and he had problem contaminating his Magseal when he oiled the mainshaft
