So, why give an enemy leverage over you? That means they can then negotiate easier with you. The idea is to make it harder on them, not easier. Shake the hand and move the hell on.

The North Korean saluted first then Trump returned a salute for respect. He showed Trump respect and Trump showed it back. Simple.
