When I was a kid in a Philippines province, we didn't pay for water up until I was in High School. Then businessmen came, installed so many pipes, and boom, water is no longer for free. Also our water came from natural springs and natural dams from volcanos and large mountains. With just one stroke on contracts/papers, our ancestors' source of water for thousand of years has suddenly become a property of private companies. Sooner we will pay for the air that we breathe.

People watch these videos and wonder "well what am I supposed to do about it?", they feel helpless and complacent and I can understand why. But how can you not be mad? How can you not be FURIOUS at the government and companies that do all this shit? Sure it might be too late for US, but what about our children and their children? Should we really stand by and let this all continue for decades to come while we know this is all going on?

4:50 no no no the chlorine wouldn't be all absorbed that fast. That's not how chemistry works. Something on his skin reacted with the chlorine or interfered with the test.
I don't doubt that some chlorine is absorbed through the skin but this demonstration shows that they dont understand chemistry or they are being deceptive.
Things like this weaken the argument.

In the East, we filter our water through 8 layers. I was paranoid that my son would drink PFAs and other additives; however, when we got our water tested, it was 99.9% pure and free from all of the above. Our filtration system cost us $500. The problem isn't in the water supply, it's in our education, and that's why I'm grateful for videos like this.

I have boycotted Nestlé for the last 6 years. They are paying about 200.00 per YEAR to receive unlimited amounts of Michigan's great lakes water, while poor homeowners have had their water shut off due to non payment, yet regular human beings are paying exponentially more for basic human needs...I do understand that Michigan is at fault for allowing this, but the pure profit that Nestlé is earning for basically free water (that people in Flint had no access to)is a practice that is completely anti human & it simply does not set will with my soul.

I have always been what you'd call a "heavy" water drinker. I did fine through childhood with the water from my parents' well. But when my husband and I moved to Boston, in less than 4 months I was incredibly sick. Turns out I have an extreme sensitivity to fluoride, to the point of stomach ulcers, skin problems, muscle and joint problems and my teeth rotting out.
I only drink reverse-osmosis filtered water now. Some of those problems persist from the damage done, but most cleared up or stopped being as severe.
I get that we are told it's "safe, " but no, it's not for me.

As a chemist...this is incredibly misleading.
Chlorine ions can either be extremely harmful, or essential to the body. Salt, for example, is sodium chloride by a vast majority. Sodium ions and chloride ions behave differently than raw chlorine and raw sodium. That small amount of chloride ions would generally be LESS than even a few sprinkles of salt that you or I would use to season our food with.

Yes, _chlorine_ is very dangerous and caustic to the skin but _chloride_ is the ionic variant of the same element and is actually essential for the body in both the production of stomach acids and the maintenance of osmoregulation in the body.

The real test that should be done is a pH test, as anything outside the 7 range is where problems arise (usually but not always).

Also...if you're concerned about that small example then you should *_NEVER_* go to a pool because legal requirements of chlorination usually make regular water treatment blush (as they have to for infectious, microbial, and biological reasons).

Glass bottled water isn't slightly more expensive, it's significantly more expensive. Keeping your daily intake of water at healthy levels with only glass bottled water is a lifestyle for millionaires, totally crazy.

I was taught never to swallow tap water, but when I got older I would just tell people I don't like the taste of tap water. There were a few times I swallowed it and no matter where it came from it always tasted funky. I trusted drinking fountains in schools though and other places like that. It still tasted funny, but I thought as a kid it was safe. I never knew the extent of what was going on except suspicion over something being in the water. I thought it had to do with city water and chemicals and also pollutants in the water table, since we had a well. It always came up as a topic of debate every once in a while too.
