Morel Season Is Almost Here!

There's a lot happening in March but one thing is for sure, it's Morel season. Morels flush in Central Texas in spring, and are found in moist areas near creeks and rivers around Ashe Juniper/Cedar in grassy well draining soil with lots of limestone and caliche.

The meaty flavor is undeniable and is why there is such a craze around these mushrooms. They are difficult to cultivate. as they are a mycorrizal fungi and associate with specific trees and soil conditions in an ecosystem.
