Let’s just say that the French earned their reputation for cleanliness…. The Seine is well known for being polluted. I promise you that none of the locals ever go swimming in it.

One olympic swimmer was seen throwing up after exiting the water.
Possible side affects going into the gastrointestinal tract even if you don't swallow are diarrhoea, cholera, dysentry, hepatitis to name a few charmers. Ridiculous!
Paris' sewage system is diabolical, they had to spent 1.5 billion trying to make the Seine swimmable! In heavy rain some city sewage still diverts back into the river, charming!!

This is completely different than a river that you have and some small country town or on the back roads this is a river running through a major city, and when it rains all that rainwater ends up, going into the river meeting all the filth of the streets sidewalks, gutters get rinsed right off into that river..

Well its infrastructure is not like Singapore. There are some places in Singapore like Kallang River where people can go for water activities

I was in Paris a few weeks back and took a huge dump in that river. Please stay out of it. I had Indian food the night before
