My friend works there and she said it’s super awkward leaving a note because sometimes they don’t know if it’s for a guy or girl, and she always worries that the dudes think she’s flirting with them. It makes the employees very uncomfortable

I like that they're giving real cups to patrons who order inside. It saves waste. Plus, you can always ask for a to-go cup or bring your own if you want to eventually take it to go.

The no washrooms or free water is gonna hurt. The reason why Starbucks lets you use their washroom and wifi and get free water is because the person who made Starbucks grew up in poverty and wanted his store to be open to everyone. When I worked there I was told this and told to never turn anyone away. Offer free water to homeless people that come in to nap, let people sit there as long as they need and use the washrooms whenever.

Writing on every cup sounds like a great way to slow down an extremely busy rush. Plus, telling someone you have to leave a message totally removes anything special about the sentiment

Detroit S-Bux barista here. The first worst thing about having this policy change is the number of people who have been coming in and being belligerent about not being able to use the bathroom. The cops have been called a few times already. It hopefully will be safer in the long run, but it's just a big shit show for the adjustment period. Second worst thing is having to make it all personalized. We don't get the amount of baristas needed to make it efficient while writing on the cups, and doing the cups in a stack is "not food safe" so you have to write most of it when you start the order. Massive waste of time

As an employee, we haven’t gotten these changes just yet, but the biggest complaint I got was the change in the matcha, since they changed the recipe the amount of complaints and angry regulars I’ve had about it is so irritating cuz they act like it’s my fault the recipe got changed

I like the glass cups because it makes less waste. However, it’s an additional task for the already busy workers to go collect and clean those cups.

My best friend is a shift lead. Its awful. Imagine having a line of people out the door and you not only have to monitor the floor and restrooms at all times, but draw shit on EVERY cup
