BFGoodrich All Terrain KO3 vs Falken Wildpeak AT4W - The Differences Tested and Explained

preview_player
Показать описание

This is the most in depth look directly comparing the new BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO3 against the new Falken Wildpeak AT4/W.

Both offroad all terrain tires are in the same size (LT275/65 R18) and are fitted to identical wheels to ensure the fairest possible test.

In the video I compare the BFGoodrich and Falken on and off-road, looking at the performance of the tires on gravel and sand,, and also how they perform on road in terms of the comfort, noise and steering response.

We also compare the pricing of the two tires, tread life warranty and talk about the snow and wet performance of the tires.

The advantage of this test is that I'm actually driving them myself and directly comparing them, unlike all the other comparisons online.

I've got the AT4W's and live in Florida. I can tell you they handle excellent in the rain.

Looking forward to the objective testing, especially wet and snow! Great intro and general impression feedback; hopefully the wait won't be too long! This is my favorite tire review channel; thanks for the efforts!

Literally have two Jeeps out in my driveway, one with the BFG & one with the Falkens, and both with about 5000 miles (8000km) on the set of tires. Every little detail of your review was exactly what I experience and feel. And, the vanity part of the raised white letters is another “amen.” I will say that the Falkens have balanced a little better with less weights, though. When you get up to the 315/70R17 size, though, the popularity of the BFG on the Ford Raptor for so many years does make it an easier tire to get a replacement for (in the U.S.). But when you can buy 5 Falkens for the price of 4 BFG, that is moot point. The wet traction and price will probably have me replacing with the Falkens when it is necessary in the future.

running AT4Ws now on my Ram1500, very happy with them -- had 2 sets of ATW3s before -- got over 70, 000 miles on each of them on an F150

Standard load AT4Ws on my Xterra. They ride really nicely on road, with great grip in wet so far. Amazingly quiet even at highway speeds. 100 mile gravel trip with some 4x4 mandatory sections and they felt and performed great. Traction through bumpy corners stood out to me, interesting to see you mentioned that here. I get a lot of rain so I think they will be great tires for me.

Great video. I’m in the market and shopping and came across this vido. Totally covered all of my concerns and shopping points. Especially liked your personal choice decision process. I wavered at every sentence but your weather assessment got me. A+ video. Totally and thankfully appreciate it. Even your sponsor onX.

I was just in salt lake this weekend for a concert, I was surprised to hear you live there. I'm about 2 hours north in Idaho. Love your videos, I'm a tire nerd as well

I'm running AT3's at the moment and I've put them through some torture, holding up beautifully 👌, wouldn't hesitate putting AT4's on next

I got Falken Wildpeak AT4W this June on my GMC Acadia AT4, and I love it. Can't wait to test them on snow.

Good review!. I live fairly close to you in Elko, NV and just fitted the 285/75/16 Falkens to my '97 F250 diesel 4X4 last week. Replaced Michelins. Very quiet now. They were much less expensive than the BFGs. These are my 3rd set of various Falkens I have bought, and they sold me on the brands quality. I have 8 year old BFGs on my Jeep and they are great. So far, I am real happy I got the AT4Ws, especially for the price.

I bought the Falken Wildpeak A/T4W 265/70/R17 115 SL. I have a 4Runner. I had KO2's on before. I wanted the KO3's but they are not out in my size yet.The KO's are a lighter tire, but the size Wildpeak I purchased are only 2.2 lbs heavier. The comfort is better than the KO2, also much quieter. I did not lose any MPG, may have actually gained a bit. Off-road? Fine so far, and defiantly better in the rain than the KO2.

Impressive showing by Falken/Sumitomo. Coming in and doing so well against a titan like BFG isn't a small feat. I'll be looking forward to snow data. If you can throw in a dedicated snow as well that would be a great data point

Thank you for the great tire reviews!

I have the Falken Wildpeak AT3W on my Tacoma right now. While overall I'm mostly satisfied with the Falken, I won't be replacing them with the AT4W when time comes. Because of my work, I park my tacoma for days at the time in the garage without driving it. When I come back 4 to 7 days later, my tire have developed a flat spot. And for the first 10 to 15 minutes of driving, it's like I'm driving on out of round tires. It creates enough vibrations in the stearing and through the cab to be annoying. After the tires warm up from driving, it's smooth again.
60% paved road / 40% gravel and snow in the winter. Except for my flat spot problem, they do what they are supposed to be doing, on the noisier side.

Amazing comparison as usual! Haven’t tried either of the new tires yet, but in the past I’ve always liked running the KO2’s here in Colorado because off road and in snow they are tough to beat! Thx for all you work on this. That Cayenne sounds badass!
