I'm a console player and i'd love a next gen update for bf3 or bf4, simply with a higher resolution. And i think your absolutely right with your thoughts concerning a full remaster

I agree with you in everything. This new Dice shouldn’t even touch a Battlefield game again. The whole studio should be fired, they basically killed the franchise. Maybe give Battlefield to Ripple Effect, or idk, but I’m 100% sure, that the new BF game (if there will be one) will be the same terrible garbage like 2042.

I think most people aren't actually asking for a remake, but an actual remaster. Aka small graphics update, port to newer consoles and some netcode fixes. A remaster of that scale would be the exact same game so there's not a huge risk of them fucking it up. Wouldn't be that big of a project either so they could easily outsource it to another studio. If EA was smart they'd assign one of their good support studios to the project and deliver it sometime this year to appease the player base. Maybe make it free for 2042 owners, a bit like the MW remaster activision gave out with infinite warfare.

All they have to do in terms of remastering anything in BF3 is to fix the damn netcode and any other glitches. That's it, that's all we could ever ask for!

For a BF3 remaster i'd suggest minimum 5 years of development + involve the fans into playtests every now and then and listen to their feedback

if the current DICE touches anything it will go up in flames and crash right off the gate. first they need to learn to crawl before they can even think about trying to emulate former games.
if anything DICE as it is now feels like a first year college class at best

DICE already lost a ton of their senior developers while and after making BF 5 and by now they are NOT even the DICE anymore that made BF4. Basically all the people who used to be in charge and responsible for the Battlefield DNA are gone. Combine this with a greedy €A, a gaming market as a whole which is completely fucked up with incomplete games being released as the new norm and the fact that the current developers don't even know how the Frostbite engine really works, I'd say we would get something of similar quality to BF2042.

And I'm not sure what would be a worse insult: An absolute disaster and failure of a remake of (arguably) the best BF game to date aka BF3 or the current situation with BF2042. As much as I'd love to get a BF3 remaster or at least a new BF title that is close to BF3/BF4 I think the ship has sailed and we will only get more garbage like in the recent years.

Gamers have a naive demand for remasters, which never live up to their nostalgia.

CoD4: Modern Warfare was given the remaster treatment and was quickly grown bored of.
I also recall a Goldeneye campaign remaster years back which flopped.

Even with the additional tweaks to weapons, skins or gamemodes they just feel weak and people quickly get bored once the novelty wears off.

Another huge aspect is that many of the Developers behind BF3 left Dice, so it would be new Devs either at Dice or a another Dev team who rebuilt the game. It just wouldn't deliver.

Portal should have been the middle ground to show veterans of the franchise the nostalgia could be met but look how quickly that fizzled out

After BF3 the Dice team just started to fall apart, from veterans leaving, EA demands to focus on game mode no one want just to chase after trends, new entitled employees who make thing just way worse, armoured balance becoming worse and worse. I’m thinking of picking up BF3 since 1, 4 and V’s issues are very apparent to me now.

What EXACTLY needs to be remastered in Battlefield 3? Maybe tick rate and hitreg, and that's it. Game aged really well in terms of graphics for whoever cares about that and everything is as great as it was in day one.

I think there are some Rose coloured glasses in regard to BF3, it was a good game but BF4 killed it off, that says something about BF4 despite its poor launch. The fact you can still get a BF4 game easily these days says a lot for that game too.

If they remaster BF3 they should do a BF3/BF4 remaster, have all the maps and modes for each game including the BF3 and BF4 versions of Caspian and the other maps that featured in both games. Heck you could even do a BF of the ages and include BC2 content. I know portal tried but it also uses BF2042 mechanics.

i wouldn't trust them with a remaster as much as i would with a polished up rerelease, keeping all existing features intact but updating the game technically to modern standards with balance changes on top

Don't forget that BF3 didn't have voip either which was one reason BF4 game out so soon after BF3 release. I agree totally, Dice/EA couldn't program pong at this point.

The video should be called "Why you don't want another battlefield game" at this point it doesn't matter what is it gonna be, bf3 remaster or something new. They displayed complete incompetence and tone deafness and I don't think they should be trusted with another game. It was a fun ride but I thing this is it. I will just keep playing bf4, it still has way more to offer than any other bf game released afterwards.

Another problem with remastering battlefield 3 is the "controversial" suppression system, if removed people will say battlefield 3 is ruined and if not they will call devs lazy(which they are though)

This is what I kept saying to people that wanted BF 2042 to be a BFBC2 Remake. Like what about BF V gave you confidence they could pull that off? And 2042 just reaffirms that DICE is no longer the DICE that made those games.

Ripple Effect should develop it, either they do it now while they want to prove themselves or there will be no good studio to make a BF game ever again IMO
