Palenque Colombia. In this video, I visit Palenque Colombia, my Colombian Friend's family's home town to learn about Life there. Formed in 1603 by runaway slaves, San Basilio de Palenque in Colombia was the first documented free slave town in the Americas.

In 2005 UNESCO declared Palenque a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity because there were able to maintain its African culture. Today Palenque is a Major tourist destination for people who want to learn more about this town and the diaspora.

I hope more African Americans know about Black Latinos. We identified as Black, we are proud of being of African descent but the international media never shows Black Latinos. But this is our culture. I'm a Black Dominican ✊🏾🇩🇴🇩🇴

So as I get older and older, I'm learning that everything that I was taught in American schools was a lie....

Pelenque is 100 percent certified Africans, living in harmony with nature, they should preserve their way of life. Ace, you sure hold the ace for making such Afro-centric content?

As a Congolese am here to tell every African descendants that we love you what happened was a tragedy🇨🇩🇨🇩🇦🇴🇨🇬 🇬🇦 Africa is your home always welcomed. We still going through issues in the continent. I wish the air ticket could be lesser than 100 in order for you to come experience the motherland. Congo for sure has influenced a lot in music from Africa, to America and to Latin America. It in our DNA. From rumba, kompa, jazz, champeta and more they can all be traced to Congo.

Palenque reminds me of my village in Ghana 🇬🇭, carefree, stress-free, simple humble life! This episode really made me miss my hometown.

Thank you so much for showing this side of Colombia. Many YouTube videos just focus only on Cartagena the city and completely leave out this part of our history.
