don't think you should have stressed Ridley Scott being overlooked with all that footage as pernicious as BLACK HAWK DOWN.
Jordan Peele's barely got started and already has one nomination; doesn't really belong here yet. No Spike Lee, who's not ling since only got his first director nomination. It was bad enough that he missed out for DO THE RIGHT THING, and ever since every few years he brings out something that gets missed out.
Robert Altman? Sidney Lumet? Martin Ritt?
You cover Brian DePalma as a 'shock' director, but he's done many more sensible ones: CASUALTIES OF WAR, REDACTED, THE BLACK DAHLIA. Not even nominated yet, like John Sayles.
