Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is asked about the Voting Rights Act by Aspen Institute President and CEO Walter Isaacson.

McConnell addresses recent Republican efforts viewed by some as attempts to restrict access to voting. He describes his presence -- as a young man -- at the signing of the Voting Rights Act by President Johnson in 1965.

McConnell, the senior Republican senator from Kentucky, describes some of the original Voting Rights Act provisions as, "procedures that make no sense in today's America."
