This seems to be a great deal. The reason the "running" vs "peak" watts is different is that the generator(alternator) isn't designed to carry a full load for very long because of "wattless power", ie. heat. Self exciting generators rely on the magnetism in the rotors to kick off the initial voltage production upon startup. Overheating the generator can & will kill the magnetism. Some units have a "field flashing" circuit that is dependent upon current supplied from a battery. But as with the inverter circuitry, any additional circuitry takes a portion of the developed voltage/current, thus reduces the output wattage delivered out to the load. Also, no portable generator sets outperform diesel prime mover driven ones in efficiency/load carrying capacity, so if you are looking to power something, keep it in mind that as you move from diesel>gasoline>propane, you are moving down in load carrying capacity of the prime movers & will need to "upsize" the prime mover as a result.

Gasoline gets stale, and once the power goes there is always a run on the gas stations. Propane and Natural Gas are plentiful, they are always there when you need them and they burn clean. If the outage is prolonged, as it has been here, you need a few days of fuel. I got a propane/natural gas generator and I'm ready.

Not sure where you could ever get a generator this big and quiet for $1800 and NEW. I know a lot of people are asking for 50A and EFI. I'm sure there will be a propane conversion kit soon if not already. High power and quiet is the new trend, it will come if there is a market. Just bought the 3500 version based on countless good reviews. Looking forward to using it.

Love the new offering. However, I feel you guys missed on something, a 50 amp connection.it clearly has the power why not add a 50 amp plug? It would fly off the shelves. Most larger campers are 50 amp.

I converted my 9500 to natural gas, but the conversion wasn't easy. In order to keep from drilling holes in the panels and maintaining the factory look it took some doing. As for its operation, natural gas is much cleaner burning and with the price of gasoline much more economical to run.

So my second 3500 Predator just died with 350 hrs does this mean for twice the money I'll get just twice the hours or will this be a better generator? Yes Serviced regularly premium fuel never felt one rain drop so think I'm going with The Onan Cummins 4500

459cc eats a gallon plus per hour under load so 4 hours run time per day @ 2.50 a gallon =$10 per day or 70 bux minimum per week to keep fridge fridging and freezer freezing and time enough to cook the days meals and cool the house down sufficiently for a minute during a power outage of more than a day or three..
