I am old enough -- and Canadian/Quebec enough -- to remember how VICE started out. It was a free magazine, monthly as I recall, from Montreal, with lots of "alternative culture" coverage, a bit warmed-over hippy, and very fun to read. Then it got big ideas in its addled pate and went over to the U. S. of A. where it tried to become a media empire. Frankly, I liked that Montreal mag a whole lot better, dudes!
