1. There are planes in the world made for parachuting, and usually they jump out the back for it, so why not try starting to fit some planes to be able to jump out the back of...

2. If its too high to jump right away, then make a procedure for telling people when they are clear to jump and not worry about any of those problems...

And 3. Even if when they are at a good height its not enough time to save everyone, its still better few get saved than no one... Imagine if the titanic had more deaths because someone said they wouldn't be able to save everyone, so didnt get the few lifeboats they could atleast get to save the few they did

Former USAF Aircrew here- in the event we had to emergency bailout we would drop altitude and speed, we also practiced specific jumping procedures to ensure we wouldn’t hit the side of the plane. On top of all this the parachutes were equipped with a mechanism that once employed would allow the parachute to self deploy once you reach a certain altitude in decent, so it wouldn’t matter if you passed out due to hypoxia….the real reason airlines don’t supply parachutes is cost. We had 4 crew members and routinely flew into hostile environments, it’s a lot more cost effective to supply and maintain 4 parachutes than it is to supply much less maintain 300+

Not to mention operating a parachute on its own requires a significant amount of training and familiarization.

These are all good points if you jumped out of a commercial plane at cruising altitude at cruising speed, but if there’s an emergency, they would be dropping altitude and speed. I’m not advocating for a bunch of parachutes, but I’m sure there are some instances where it would help. But most the time plane incidences are so fast and uncontrollable you wouldn’t be able to get out of the plane.

The biggest problem is the weight of an avrage parachute. It would make commercial flights so much more exprnsive

Simple solution is to build airplane with back exit, and jump out only when low enough above the ground (which you will be before crashing, you don't just crash into the ground imidiately).

So basically the solution is to buy your OWN parachute, and time the proper moment to jump out instead of jumping out too high, and when you jump keep your arms open wide and lay flat in the air until its time to pull the cord
