$12,000 for Meat!

Food is so expensive now that it actually makes sense to build the infrastructure we need to raise animals for protein in addition to the wild game I harvest. The cost of building raised beds, chicken coops, barns and pasture fencing will pay off in my lifetime and future generations will continue to benefit from my efforts.
Thanks for Watching!

No, don't make another channel. I want to see all of that. Just the two channels you have now make it hard to keep up. I wish it was all on one channel again. I have been watching you since you made a fort with Joe, that's how I found you. I love ALL of your content.

Shawn I throw my vote in with the no new channel folks. Have Shawn James include your homesteading and keep My Self Reliance your wilderness adventures plus your infrastructure building, minimum talking and the sounds of nature and your hand saw. IMHO you have balanced these two channels well and provided overlap where necessary. We look forward to the hen house tour.

Shawn knocks up a chicken coop, it looks better than most new build houses,
truly exquisite craftsmanship

Shawn, you dont have to open another channel, i have followed you for many years now. You are a big inspiration for me, the things you do is what i want to do, i dont like to have neighbours so close, i really want to live in the forest, mostly alone but i would preciate the family or friends coming over.
Everything you do is so amazing.
I am 59 yesterday, from Sweden .

Don't start another channel, I think we can separate out the content, and watch what we want or in my case all of it. Thank you for sharing your life with us, you have inspired me to change some things that have made my life better.

I'm fine with the existing channels, finding it all interesting and informative. Continuing prosperity and abundance for you and your extended family.

I think 1 channel is great. My husband and I enjoy your channel, we live on a quarter section of land and are retired. We have raised cattle, horses and chickens. We now just have horses. We built our own house and are totally on the grid, sadly. We hunt and raise our own veggies and plan to put in a fruit garden/orchard. My husband had been a wildland firefighter for 40+ years so developing our own place has been put on hold all those years as fire took him away most summers coast to coast. We are learning from you, and have been making plans to attempt to do what you are doing...it's just a little tough with my 59 and his 63 year old bodies...so we have to do this work a little differently than you. Huge Kudos to you and your wife for doing what you do

It’s not confusing, do you have it all on one channel! We love the variety❤ What’s confusing is that everyone is now going to multiple channels and it’s too hard to keep track of and now we hardly see posts because they only post some on the original channel and then they post other stuff on their other channels – keep it simple❤❤❤

No additional channel needed here. I enjoy the varying discussions around different topics, challenges and projects you discuss. Is fish or dried fish not also an optimal/alternative solution?

I think a third channel would actually be more confusing. I like the Shawn James channel where you give us your thoughts behind what you doing and what you are trying to accomplish. Then the other channel is fun to watch you put it together in the building process. Just my two cents worth. I will follow you if you do a third channel too.

I have been watching since you started, .havent made any comments yet. Love your show. Things have gotten a little confusing since the USA trip, understandably so. glad Callie is OK. 2 Channels is Good. You have a lot going on. Cool Chicken Coop/Castle!, . Im glad you decided to expand to homesteading. Logically the next step! Yea food prices in CA are out of control. Good Luck! I'll be watching! I had started getting off the grid in No. CA 2017. I bought 34 acres in the DeadWood/Concow foothills. sunk a well and built a covered concrete parking area for my truck, tractor, 5th wheel. base of operations. Planning on Solar panels on top of the parking area..the rest never happened! Camp Fire Nov 8, 2018 . Destroyed everything. then covid. Damn! im Starting over at 65! Peace KSkirrow

The two channels you have now are perfect. Being self reliant requires you to recognize when the direction you started is not working and time for a change.. adding livestock to your land makes sense. Watching you build the chicken house was awesome. I do like you filling us in on your thoughts and explaining a new direction. Please keep us involved, you are so inspirational. You faithful viewer from the first log set on original cabin.

Makes no difference to me so long as I subscribe to all your channels. You and your family deserve a lot of respect for how you've all managed to pick up and stand from where you have fallen. Life is that way for everyone. There are ups and downs, and all that matters is that we all learn from our experiences and muster the courage to move on forward. I am very impressed with you and your family. May everyone stay safe, healthy, and happy! Thank you for creating all of your channels for us to learn and draw inspiration from!

One channel is fine. Its all you and your lifestyle. It’s interesting how your life is changing and how you are adapting. Always a great pleasure to watch. Looking forward to the cattle arriving 😊❤.

I like just one channel. I have been following you for about 8 years and love watching the changes you and your family have been going through. 😊

Hi Shawn .... We love all your videos and watch them from our farm here in New Zealand. We prefer, not that it is up to us to have just one channel, we find it easier to just click on one rather than a couple at a time. We have Red Devon cows who have their own calves which stay with and on mum for 8 to 9 months. We have chickens which get fed Possum meat that gets minced up with the kidney and liver ... they go mental for the protein. The chickens then head out onto the farm and go wherever they want to .... We also made a maggot bucket for our chickens and again they go mental for those as well. Our sons make clothing (natural bark tan) from the hides, hats etc so nothing goes to waste. Our cows go into green salad bowl pasture where we have herbs for them and many many trees for shade and shelter. We are very fortunate to have our own meat so we are so grateful. Chicken feed here a 25kg bag of organic pellets NZ 64.00 Keep up the amazing videos, we do so love to think were sitting in a cabin eating a toasted sandwich you've made from the sour dough bread hahahaha
