USA Launched Their New Most Advanced Supersonic Jet
The United States is advancing supersonic aviation through two notable projects: Boom Technology's XB-1 demonstrator and NASA's X-59 Quesst.

Boom Technology's XB-1 Demonstrator

The XB-1, often referred to as the "Son of Concorde," is a supersonic aircraft developed by Boom Technology. In its tenth test flight, the XB-1 achieved a top speed of Mach 0.95 (approximately 723 mph) and reached an altitude of 32,417 feet. These milestones are significant steps toward the company's goal of reducing transatlantic flight times, such as from London to New York, to about 3.5 hours. Boom Technology plans to conduct its first supersonic flight by early 2025, following additional test flights.

NASA's X-59 Quesst

In collaboration with Lockheed Martin, NASA is developing the X-59 Quesst (Quiet SuperSonic Technology) aircraft. Unveiled in January 2024, the X-59 is designed to address the challenges of supersonic flight over land by minimizing sonic booms. The aircraft aims to cruise at speeds up to Mach 1.5 (990 mph) at an altitude of 55,000 feet, producing a noise level of 75 perceived decibels (about as loud as closing a car door). This low-noise design could lead to the lifting of current bans on commercial supersonic travel over land, potentially revolutionizing air travel by significantly reducing flight times.

Both the XB-1 and X-59 represent significant strides in supersonic technology, with the potential to transform commercial aviation by making faster-than-sound travel more efficient and widely accessible.
