If i pay $1k+ for this, id expect WAY more for the money. I can get a competent gaming laptop in that price range. I can get a steam deck for half the price, or a ROG ally extreme for about $800..and have $200 left for games lol

The first flaw is it being windows-based when windows doesn't even have a portable setting or mode. So forget any quality gaming on a handheld with windows. And that's not even getting into all the effort both Nintendo and Valve have put into their controller designs, versus that thing.

While I'm glad there's more people chasing the hand held market, it does mean that duds will happen.
EDIT: and by dud, I mean the things I look for in a hand held. Bad controllers and being heavy as heck are deal breakers. A device trying to be both a gaming laptop and a hand held does not appeal to me. If I want a gaming laptop, I'd buy a gaming laptop.

I'm not sure which unit you received, but I have no issues with the controllers, and they never disconnect. I love the fact that it's a big handheld, and as long as you don't have the back covers on, it is still a reasonable weight.

As someone who uses a laptop for work (I work on theatrical lighting systems) and home, and really wants a both in one that can dock, this might be it for me personally. That flexibility with being able to get the ONEXGPU for at home has me interested for sure. Of course, the price tag is tough.

Just to clarify: FSR is AMD thing, but it runs on everything, not only AMD cards. So in theory if developers want to they can use it when making their games for Switch 2, there are few games on PS5 and Xbox Series that use FSR3 already. Immortals of Aveum on consoles is even packing frame generation toggle.

I know that with a good Nvidia chip there's probably gonna be no need in it, but Switch 2 could totally use FSR 3, there's a number of Switch games using FSR 1 and 2, tho obviously results are not as good due to low bandwidth on Switch

I find it hard to get excited about Switch-likes that run Windows for all the reasons you brought up. It's just not a great experience. The Steam Deck does so much to patch that experience up on Linux and the result is pretty fantastic, almost as easy as a traditional console. None of these Windows products that I've seen manage that. Personally, if I wanted a portable Windows gaming computer, I would settle for a laptop.

Honestly at that point it seems like it'd make more sense to just...get a reasonable gaming laptop. A fun idea but it seems like a poor value proposition.

Great video, interesting device. I currently own a Switch and a Legion Go for exactly the reasons you metioned, Switch for simplicity and Legion for AAA Games

Holding this in handheld mode looks beyond stupid, lmao. I like big screens, but it needs to be comfortable to handle, too. This just ... looks tiresome to play in handheld for longer than twenty minutes.
