Lets try the following:
When the device freezes on black screen, its vibrating every 3 seconds. So you should press 10 seconds and the device will be OFF, after connect the device to the PC and automatically will try to start, Press the device button and it will show the Garmin logo with some with screen, immediately slide your finger across the screen (similar as when you want o close screen). Automatically should start. Remember all information will be lost, but at least working. Remember next time to switch the device OFF before to charge it. For me is working.

You are happy. Mine is freezing without start. Is the main problem of this watch.

It is not a general problem of that watch. My VA3 did never stop working, Today I learned that Garmin is working on that issue. Perhaps, it is the app and not the watch itself.
