WHAT IS "SR22 INSURANCE" IN NEVADA?

Nevada residents who get their driver's licenses suspended for a DUI are required to get SR22 Insurance for 3 years in order to get their driver's licenses reinstated. SR22 is a document showing that the defendant informed his/her insurance company that he/she received a DUI and is paying car insurance.

After a DUI, the defendant's insurance company will also notify the Nevada DMV if the defendant loses or is dropped from the insurance company. If that happens, the defendant will have his/her Nevada license suspended again and will have to file a new SR22 for another 3 years.

I was arrested and charged with a DUI in NV because of a false positive for meth with a swab test. Although I was exonerated by the blood test, it showed a trace amount of marijuana.
