Sony a6000 vs. the Sony a6100. I also talk about the 4 kit lenses available

If you've had an a6000 for a while, check and see if you have the XAVC codec. if you don't, you can download it here for free from Sony:

Great review. I picked up a6000 on a whim and I love it. I bought a couple of primes to shoot with. My whole kit easily fits in a fanny pack. Its small size dosen't freak people out when you point it at them.

You are such an amazing photographer. I really appreciate you sharing your thoughts especially on different lenses. I find you the most reliable source of technical information so far especially for Sony cameras & lenses. The more I watch your videos, the more I like your thought process and logical explanations; always good to see you with a lot of information. Could you please go over in one of your video with your backup strategy especially with huge files that getting generated from Sony a7riv, locally as external/NAS hardware wise and also which cloud based backup service you are using such as amazon drive or google or crashplan or backblaze or sync.com or dropbox etc.

It looks like the a6100 ISO only goes to 51, 200 rather than 512, 000 as you say in the video. 51, 200 is still one stop more than the a6000 - but 512, 000 would be more than 4 stops! I guess that's more a7s territory. I used to have a DSLR that went to 104, 000 and it was incredible for night vision, even though the noise (and the fact it only worked in B+W) made it useless for me to take nice photos. I have an a6000 as a rarely-used secondary body to my FF kit, and I'm not in the market for another APS-C body at the moment, but I enjoyed this video anyway - thanks Patrick!

That 16-55/2.8 is the lens that APS-C was missing. The A-mount had the fantastic 16-50/2.8 for years.

Thanks Patrick for a great video! Is it true that the only major differences between the A6100 and A6400 is weather sealing and better viewfinder resolution in favour of the A6400? and also the A6400 is slightly heavier.

Very helpful tutorial, thank you. I own the a6000 and a6300 and have 3 lenses. I'm doing well with my amateur wildlife photography after a few years and now I'm trying to migrate into more professional equipment. I only use Sony and love it. Can you recommend my next camera body. I shoot wildlife in Africa.

Hi, now r5 is here and what z your thoughts about a7r4? I’m debating b/w a7r4 vs r5. The only thing I don’t like about a7r4 is the lack of touch screen, articulated screen and lack of multiple raw formats, which are all in r5 with I believe almost close to Sony in eye tracking too. But glasses for r5 ridiculously prized. Being a7s3 announced with all these features, I believe it is best in investing in a7r4 for future proof. What is your thoughts b/w these cameras? I don’t care about video features at all? Thanks in advance.

If you like the a6100 then you'll love the a6400.

If I’m buying an apsc camera from
Sony right now I’m going with the A6600 for the larger battery alone.
