I live in Maine and I can honestly say the Ontario Rtak II is my favorite knife. I put a convex edge on this beast of a knife and it just blast through the fire wood prep. 89$ is such a fare deal.

I'd have to say it's my Cattaraugus 225Q that my grandfather gave me. He carried it during WW2 and I received it from him when I deployed to Iraq. It's a bull, heavy thick and can be (and has been) used for everything. Over 70 years old and still as good as anything else I've ever owned.

I love my Helle Fabrikker. It is made in Norway and belonged to my great grandfather. It was passed down from him to my grandfather to my father to me. It is about a 1920-40 vintage and I have only used it once to skin a deer. I would never want to ruin such a nice knife.

I would have to say that my all time favorite knife would have to be an old timer pocket knife that used to belong to my grandfather. He had that knife in his pocket every single day until he passed away...and now it stays in mine.

I can't remember all the ones I have and have had...the one stands out after thirty years is a 3 1/2" Buck folding knife in a stout leather belt pouch...they had a ad about the time you were born that showed someone cutting 5/8" threaded rod with a buck folding knife and ballpeen hammer. I tried it, and it worked. It is one of the few tools I have had stolen, and one I really cherished.

My favorite type of knife comes more from a nostalgia frame of mind. Old Timer has/had? some great knives. Sure blades like Kershaw and others are great but I will always remember my Old Timer knife my grandfather gave me when I was a kid. I used it for everything! Such an awesome blade!
