The Chase Rig - My Stormchasing Vehicle

Recently a lot of folks have been asking how I track & detect tornadoes while chasing, so I thought I would share this with you all.

Nice ride. I've been thinking utilizing a used 4x4 ambulance so as to have a restroom in back, power supply system, and rehab area when awaiting storms complete with screens and radio systems in back to monitor the storm fronts. Also having a dash cam or cams, reverse 360° multicams, and then FULLY lit with LED code lights, LED yellow fog lamps, and a sturdy 16.5ti winch with FULL grille guard up front. Throw in traffic advisor light on rear too, for stationary safety on the roadways.

Good info. I've been doing this spotter/chaser thing for about 11 years with some really antiquated stuff. usually just a couple of cell phones, 1 for radar and 1 for pictures/video. Recently, ive added a couple of action cameras and a basic dashcam. Im on a really hard budget so the likelihood of me ever having a setup quite like yours is slim to none. But I am now looking into adding a camcorder with night vision since a lot of what i get here in the Mid-South comes after dark. I'm not sure how well that will actually work but i reckon I'll find out. My problem is finding a secure way to mount the camcorder in the truck. I'd like some info on what you have there for your camera. I look forward to hearing from you.

If you use iPad Pro with a built in GPS as far as I know you can get GPS with no cell or wireless service, just add Gaia GPS and their built in maps to that and you dont need internet service
