The course will focus on the use of Millipede and Galapagos for FEM analysis and optimization. Main topics: FEM Workflow in Grasshopper-Millipede, analysis of beams, frames and shells. Analyis of deformation and stress. Output interpretation, structural optimization using Galapagos (evolutionary and annealing solver). Even if Grasshopper can be considered itself as a programming language, when it comes to writing a code in Python many Grasshopper users just give up. Probably because they start learning the language from mounds of digital resources or studying the syntax out of a specific context. Conversely, this introduction session can be considered as a quick introduction to Python for Grasshopper starting from something which is already familiar to the grasshopper user, moving after to the main benefits that Python can give if integrated within a standard grasshopper algorithm. Main topics: Python scripting logic. Python scripting in Grasshopper (GH Python).
