QUESTION OF THE DAY:
What miniatures are you basing right now?

Nice, really like the idea of taking a high end miniature paint to a DIY store for colour matching and making up a big cheap batch as an emulsion tester for use in basing. It’s so simple & obvious, but I never would have thought of it. Big brain move there, like it.

This video should be mandatory viewing for anyone getting into MESBG. It's 'the' base you want to get started with, and you'll be glad you did.

Basing is always the bane of my (very short) painting life but have recently making more effort so once again a perfectly time video by yourself. Some great tips and tricks as always plus my wife was very keen on helping me have a plentiful supply of wine corks

Great vid. My PRO TIP is base your minis before undercoating. Then it just becomes another surface to get paint on as part of your mini, rather than a whole other process that you have to do after 'finishing' your mini. I find I get more completely finished minis this way.

Thanks a million for this, it's taken my basing to another level. I had always considered bases an afterthought but now that I am using your technique, I think I enjoy it more than actually painting the miniatures 😂

I especially like the bird sand idea, really great tip and the way you approach the whole thing step by step just makes perfect sense. I just wished I knew this 60 miniatures ago lol

So simple, and yet so effective. Basing is definitely my favourite part of completing a model. Currently I'm painting a bunch of wood elves, so I'm looking into a more natural ground coverage.

I bought cork matts from ikea that you usually use for hot plates or pans to stop the table from being burnt.
When you tear it apart you can get big chunky rock shapes, you can paint it with super glue or watered down glue to harden it or leave it as it is and just prime it.
It comes up nicely when painted and easier then the milli put and possibly a lot cheaper!!

I've been binge watching d&d/tabletop content for about a day or so. This video popped up on my home page recommended feed, props for that. Your content seems very professional and I'm happy to claim my "here before 100k" badge. Cheers mate :)

awesome, easy enough scheme and techniques with amazing texture and color variation. I wish I had this video last year when I painted my first ever minis, Rohan Riders from the starter set

I've yet to base any of my mini's yet. I didn't really have a clue. The tutorial was spot on. Thank you

Great video! I've been putting off basing all the minis I'm painting, hopefully this will help me get started.

Another useful material for basing is...cat litter (new, naturally!), for finer sand there's also acquarium's sand and wood/wall filler, to mix together.

This was a great video and so, so helpful! My only question would then be, how do you actually attach the models after the bases are done?

Nice tip on the color match paint. I wonder if Home Depot does that

Another excellent video! I managed to get some bird sand which looks great as you suggested but also found some bird grit in the same isle and it looks perfect for small stones all for under £3 👍🏻
