“Double standards…” China warns ICC against ‘politicizing’ Philippines ex-president Duterte’s arrest

On March 11, China’s foreign ministry announced that it was closely monitoring the situation after the Philippines arrested its former president, Rodrigo Duterte. The arrest, which came on a warrant issued by the International Criminal Court, marks a significant development in the ongoing ICC investigation into alleged crimes against humanity. During a regular press briefing, Chinese spokesperson Mao Ning addressed the situation, responding to questions about Duterte’s arrest. Duterte, a former mayor and prosecutor who served as president of the Philippines from 2016 to 2022, was taken into custody early on Tuesday. This marks the biggest step yet in the ICC’s investigation into Duterte’s controversial anti-drug crackdown, which led to thousands of deaths and widespread international condemnation. After his arrest, Duterte was sent to The Hague, where he is expected to arrive on the morning of March 12. At 79 years old, Duterte could become the first Asian former head of state to stand trial at the International Criminal Court.

I think the guy arrested has NOT committed any humanitarian crimes; he was only doing his job of "cleaning" up Philippines of drugs and crimes!
Today, as we see from the new government, there are drugs and crimes back on the streets on Philippines; now the tourist have to rethink if they ever wanted to visit Philippines!!
It's now back to square one.
He is unnecessarily arrested; it's not a crime committed for his personal benefit.
If you were to compare his actions of cleaning up phillippines to the actions or crimes committed by current politicians in the world against humanity; this case is "peanut".
Don't do anything that later you would feel guilty about it till your death!!
